Trump set quite the tone at the Values Voter Summit.

The first sitting president to address the Values Voter Summit that is organized by conservative groups that are rabidly anti-GLBT, Donald Trump, lamented in his speech, that while the Founding  Fathers had mentioned God “four times” in the Declaration of Independence, it wasn’t done very often anymore.

“How times have changed. But now they’re changing back again.”

He praised the religious freedom guidelines issued by Jeff Sessions which give federal employees and contractors license to discriminate against GLBT people by claiming it is based on their religious sensibilities.

“Just last week, based on this executive action, the Department of Justice issued a new guidance to all federal agencies to ensure that no religious group is ever targeted under my administration.  It won’t happen.”

He said he was proud of his appointment of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, a man who is very anti-Gay.

“I appointed and confirmed a Supreme Court Justice in the mold of the late, great Justice Antonin Scalia, the newest member of the Supreme Court, Justice Neil Gorsuch.”

Although he recently tweeted that Transgender people could no longer serve in the military and blamed Transgender soldiers for fictitiously being responsible for large military expenditures and in the process dismissed the thousands of Transgender people in uniform, he declared,

“We celebrate our heroes, and we salute every American who wears the uniform.”

Well, obviously not the Transgender ones.

And. although it is clear he favors one religion over others because he knows he can grab pussies, be adulterous, lie, and engage in “locker room talk” and the evangelicals will support him because he gives them what they want, he also said,

“But I pledged that, in a Trump administration, our nation’s religious heritage would be cherished, protected, and defended like you have never seen before.  That’s what’s happening.  That’s what’s happening.  You see it every day.  You’re reading it.

So I’m here to thank you for your support and to share with you how we are delivering on that promise, defending our shared values, and in so doing, how we are renewing the America we love.”

And then to make sure his supporters can push his and their agendas in the name of Jesus and have their congregations told for whom to vote so that Jesus won’t weep, he reminded his audience,

“among many historic steps, the executive order followed through on one of my most important campaign promises to so many of you: to prevent the horrendous Johnson Amendment from interfering with your First Amendment rights.  We will not allow government workers to censor sermons or target our pastors or our ministers or rabbis.  These are the people we want to hear from, and they’re not going to be silenced any longer.

“We are stopping cold the attacks on Judeo-Christian values.”

Between his anti-GLBT executive orders, the DOJ’s religious freedom guideline, his first Supreme Court Justice appointment, and letting pastors politicize from their pulpits, the GLBT Community is being pushed back to the days we fought so hard to get away from.

Forget the laws that have finally allowed the GLBT Community some degree of equality with all other Americans. The law will now take second place to Evangelical Christianity’s version of Sharia.

“We know that it’s the family and the church, not government officials, that know best how to create strong and loving communities.  And above all else, we know this:  In America, we don’t worship government — we worship God. Inspired by that conviction, we are returning moral clarity to our view of the world and the many grave challenges we face.”

The Values Voter Summit is a gathering of Evangelicals, and he sent them the signals they wanted.

“We will defeat every evil, overcome every threat, and meet every single challenge.  We will defend our faith and protect our traditions.”

He was not talking to all Americans.

“Thank you to the Value Voter Summit.  Such an incredible group of people you are.  Thank you to all of the faithful here today.”
