Trump has to praise others for what we should be doing.

In attempting to explain to the members of the United Nations why they were great people for taking in refugees from war torn areas while the United States has steadfastly refused to do that, Donald Trump pointed out,

“For the cost of assistance to one refugee in the U.S., we can assist more than 10 in their home region.”

He seem to be stuck on the cost of this as opposed looking at any domestic gain that would offset the cost.

According to the president’s  own departments of State, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services, refugees had provided a net gain of $63 billion to local, state, and federal governments dor the nine years from 2005 to 2014.

The White House simply refuses to accept it’s own study results. The administration doesn’t like the results, so it just ignores them.

There may be some validity to the claim that it costs less to help refugees overseas, but only if you hold that once here the refugees will sit around just waiting for assistance checks and not work like refugees have consistently done in the past. A person just has to look at the Little Havanas and Little Saigons in various cities around the country to see the work ethic of past refugees.

Then there is the humanitarian aspect of helping people get away from the long-term issues for the actual people left overseas,
