I presently live two blocks from the city’s main public library. In the old days, if I was looking for information of any sort, I would have had to have gone there after making a list of possible sources for the information I was looking for, and then spend the day finding those books and old newspapers, prepared to modify my source list when I couldn’t find information or needed to add a cited reference from something I did find.

Usually after many hours I would find enough material that I could use.

Now, I can sit home on the couch with the TV on, get on the internet, and find much more information in a considerably shorter amount of time.

It is amazing how much a person can find even in a five minute search.

But I am stumped. I spent a day looking for the country run by Gays who owned slaves and discriminated against heterosexuals.

Couldn’t find it.

Not even a reference that could have led me to a source I could link to.

Why was I looking for such a country?

When Fox News pundit Star Parker was asked about House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s having  made a comment about Trump’s rather begrudging denunciation of the white supremacists march and violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, this past weekend, she apparently confused the universe we live in with some parallel one about which she has a wealth of knowledge.

Pelosi had said,

Even here, in this reality, although Gays are not perfect, I really haven’t seen people barred from Gay owned and operated businesses, Gay Pride events, or Gay bars, unless their behavior was such that no one would tolerate it, and they needed to go.

Heck, I have seen Gay people thrown out of and barred from these venues for really bad and unacceptable behavior.

And as far a slaves, both in the Straight and Gay world there are those who engage in sexual practices that involve slaves, masters, and a lot of leather, but that does not seem to be the same as owning multiple Black people to work on a plantation.

The Confederate flag is a symbol of slavery and white supremacy.

The Rainbow flag is not.

At least in this universe.

To defend a racist symbol, remember Robert E Lee told the South to put away the Confederate flag after the Civil War, and it did not reappear until the days of Jim Crow and Civil Rights movement decades later, takes such a stretching of truth and reality that Ms Parker needs to be careful that just like an over stretched rubber band it could snap back and cause her harm.

In this case to her credibility .

 

I have been looking, but have not found any sources that would inform me of the defense of slavery, the slave trade, or the oppression of straight people by a Gay country.
