Ben Carson spoke to his employees at the Department of Housing and Urban Development on Monday, and gave them this history lesson.
After seeing that the United States was a “land of dreams and opportunity,” the Sub-Saharan Africans came here for opportunity.
“There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. They too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”
Apparently, just as we assumed that the pyramids were the tombs of Pharaohs, we had the whole slavery thing wrong all along.
