This excuse for questionable behavior is so precious in the Southern sense.
While he is President, Trump will maintain his position as Executive Producer of Celebrity Apprentice which could constitute a conflict of interest as he will most likely get a five figure salary for that.
Because his money will be coming from MGM, while the show will air on NBC, he will be a president who will be on the payroll of a show aired on one of the major news networks.
So obviously people have questions, and Kellyanne Conway has the answer.
“Well, okay, but were we so concerned about the hours and hours and hours spent on the golf course of the current president? I mean, presidents have a right to do things in their spare time, or their leisure time. Nobody objects to that.”
Unless President Obama was making money from playing golf, and was perhaps getting that money from a news network that reported on his presidency and could influence public opinion, this is one of those false equivalencies so favored recently in excusing one behavior by connecting it to another that really lacks any connection.
Plus, again rewriting, or attempting a rewrite of history, Conway seems to be ignoring that there had been plenty of criticism from Obama’s opponents to his playing golf.
