My mornings begin with a cup of coffee and a perusal of the various news outlets on the internet.
Yesterday I came across a story I just have to pass on.
Quite often the refusal to accept reality by hard core conservatives is almost comedic if the ones expressing their outlandish opinions weren’t in a position to pass laws that control the rest of us.
There are those who begin a comment by stating clearly that they are not scientists before then going on and speaking against what those who are have to say about things scientific; or claim that mankind cannot do anything about reducing its affect on climate change because God is in charge of the climate; or fracking cannot possibly cause earthquakes because only God is in charge of earthquakes; or rape victims will not become pregnant if they really, really don’t want to.
Yesterday, there was this.
State Representative Mike Moon of Missouri is against abortion rights and claims that because he use to be an embryo he has the grounds to repeal abortion laws.
The Missouri House Committee on Children and Families was dealing with House Joint Resolution 98 that would criminalize abortion by recognizing constitutional safeguarding of ‘’unborn human children at every stage of biological development’’, and Moon proclaimed,
“As a former embryo myself, I would like protection for all embryos.”
When life actually begins is not determined, although some believe it is so at the moment of conception.
This issue is presently a matter of opinion, not established fact.
But, regardless, if any embryo needs a spokesperon, there is Moon. I just can’t imagine how, as their advocate, he will be able to have consultation sessions with his clients.
He is older now and will certainly need these sessions to remain up to speed with the embryos of today.
