While most people are concentrating on the irony that Texas, whose politicians and preachers like to claim God punishes the unrighteous with floods, storms, and tornadoes, is itself being inundated;
While it constantly condemns the overreach of the federal government and periodically speaks of seceding from the mean old union, but now claims that it needs federal disaster relief money;
While it gets all paranoid about a fictitious government take over and people being sent to FEMA camps, Texas is welcoming FEMA trailers to house its now homeless;
has it occurred to anyone seeing pictures of flooded small and large businesses and places like six Flags over Texas that while there will be a lot of people out of work until businesses are repaired and people can patronize them again, there will be many people in Texas, a place whose politicians speak against the unemployed and people who rely on public assistance as lazy takers, who will need public assistance and unemployment benefits to carry them through.
The state has been devastated by floods, and it seems the death toll only includes the righteous while the “unrighteous” seem to have been spared.
No one seems to have been spared the ruination of the flooding in spite of politicians and preachers saying it is God’s punishment for all the abominations living in the state.
And when all is said and done, and even as the clean up begins, the state will find its people needing the very assistance that they have claimed makes lazy people entitled slackers.
What they have condemned in others is really hitting Texas hard.
