It’s a little insane

Religion and reverse discrimination seem to be good sources of ready cash.

First when Chik-Fil-A’s president was called out because of contributions to anti-Gay groups, people lined up outside store franchises to show that they supported bigotry with fast food.

Chik-Fil-A made a killing because of Mike Huckabee’s Chik-Fil-A Day. But, basically, no one else really got anything out of it.

In Indiana, even though they were not forced to, Memories Pizza closed down for a few days after the no-pizza-at-Gay weddings statement, but has re-opened after Glenn Beck’s Blaze raised over $800,000 through a GoFundMe account, with the owners saying that some of the money would be used to remodel the place. Some of the rest would be given to unspecified charities and, with the advice from their new financial advisor, Ed Butowsky, a wealth manager and “investologist”, the owners will make sure some of the funds will go to Baronelle Stutzman the Christian owner of a florist shop in Washington state that turned down customers who wanted flowers for a same sex wedding, and who has already raised $162,000 so far to pay for her $1,000 fine and the the additional $1 court fee.

Using the reverse discrimination angle, James “Jimbo” Boggess placed a sign on the window of his New Jersey deli on March 3 that said,  “celebrate your white heritage in March”.

Jim just doesn’t seem to understand that the months designated as minority group heritage months is one way to offset the common assumption that anything good done in this country was done by White People. It’s like those who want to offset Gay Pride parades with Straight Pride parades because they just don’t get it.

People in his community objected to the sign and stayed away from his deli, and Jimbo has closed up shop.

Echoing the sentiments of the Memories Pizza owner, Kevin O’Connor, who had said, “I don’t hate these people. They are just angry. I am not really sure what they are so angry about”, Jimbo stated, “I love everybody and everybody should celebrate what they are. I shouldn’t have to feel bad about being white”, in response to the community’s reaction to his sign which, in spite of his defending its neutrality and innocence, had the T in “white” resembling the KKK cross.

He does recognize that there is some racism around his sign, but claims if there is any racism it’s on the part of the people who are objecting to his sign “because I’m white.”

“I just want to be included. Why is this such a big deal? I don’t get it” ,

He has taken the sign down, but, before opening a GoFundMe account, replaced it with one saying, “Forced out of business”.

In answer to the many questions on that site asking him who had forced him out of business, Jim Jimbo Boggess has admitted that his critics were correct that the store had not been doing well before he placed the sign in the window.

GoFundMe has become a good resource for easy cash.
