A lot of conservatives deny that there is anything going on with the climate.
One conservative senator, who is also the chairman of the committee that deals with the environment, Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, is beyond certain that if there is anything wrong, God will take care of things. So, human beings do not have to change any behaviors to help preserve the environment because God will correct our errors.
We have all the fun without any of the responsibility.
Scientists have shown that mankind does have an influence on our climate, but they are scientists, and what do they now about science? Many in the GOP, and conservatives in general, believe that their reports and conclusions should be subject to public opinion, especially as it can be influenced by the politicians and religious extremists who refuse to explain reality to their constituents.
They believe that, even though mankind in general has no influence on our world’s climate, there is one part of the human population that does.
Gay people.
What all of humanity cannot do, a very small part of it has an overwhelming ability to do.

In the past, according to such religious luminaries as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, Gays were responsible for earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, forest fires, tornadoes, and hurricanes, many of which have missed areas with large Gay populations while hitting those that are very religious.

A lot of Gay kids face bullying in schools, and there are a lot of red states passing legislation that will allow this bullying in the name of religion.
I don’t think it is wise, in light of the power these pastors claim the Gay kids have, to get the Gay kids angry.
I have visions of Gay kids gathering in front of schools where bullying is allowed, and staring at them a la “Village of the Damned” style until disaster strikes.
Unless, of course, God got them first.
But there might be a football game or an election going on somewhere, and we know that those are God’s priorities.
It will all be a matter of timing.
Older people will remember that margarine commercial where we were warned, “it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”.
It would seem that if we Gay people have the powers that these cartoon pastors say we have, it might not be the smartest idea to tick us off.
Imagine what havoc we could wreak if, deciding who our enemies are, we move in great numbers to those locations where our enemies reside, set up communities, and by having committed loving relationships bring down the wrath of God on those areas.
We could conquer by judicious use of collateral damage.
