When Joe Biden was promoting his Covid Relief package to add to the previous insulting package that gave people all of $600 to ward off the effects of the negative aspects of the Pandemic, Mitch McConnell was against it.

He had previously said that he would make sure none of President Biden’s agenda became reality, but when it comes to money in people’s pockets, he had to offer reasons not just political sentiment to show his was the right thing to do “for the People”.

And so, from its inception, Mitch told us why Joe Bidens’ 2021 stimulus package was bad for America starting with letting us know he has a low opinion of the people in this country and his state in particular.

According to Mitch, getting that additional $1400 would keep us from returning to work. We would run off with our riches and the economy would tank.

“There is a concern about making it more advantageous to stay home rather than going back to work. If we could do it all over again, we—meaning Republicans—may offer an alternative that we think fits the situation. And it’s considerably less than $1.9 trillion. Five, maybe $600 billion, which is still an enormous amount of money.”

This might sound good on face value, but the Republicans have been promising a better replacement for the Affordable Care Act since 2010, and even when they got real close to having it ruled illegal and rescinded, they had no alternative plan when it might have been needed, so counting on them to deliver this time would be the height of asininity.

McConnell’s own stimulus plan in 2020 had a price tag of $500 billion, but did not include any stimulus check for Americans, but having previously cut taxes for the One Percenters with nothing for the rest of us, he also let us know that profits were what would mean America was back up and running, and with workers dying of the virus, there would be jobs to just step into regardless the safety, or lack thereof, and poor wages allowed by people’s desperation. Without the pittance of a relief check people would have had to return to work sooner than might have been best.

The GOP strongly opposed the bill because it would have been too costly with the American people getting a relief check.

Mitch knew,“At the end of the day, my guess is they all fall in line and it’ll pass, with every single Democrat for it and every single Republican against,”

because that is what happened.

The Republicans are known to pull things out of the air, making claims that are obviously not true, exaggerating the threat to genteel America of citizens who belong to minorities, condemning Democrats for the failures of their own party while taking credit that rightly belongs to the Democrats because they were actually responsible.

The Democrats are known for letting them do it with the slightest of opposition or questioning. They let the GOP say what it wants relying on the spark of goodness within each of us to see the truth.

In the first 2012 presidential debate, in spite of a good record, President Obama seemed content to be acquiescent and demurred whenever he should have just yelled the truth from the roof tops and called a lie a lie.

Joe Biden, however, during that same election cycle called his opponent out for lies, distortions, transference of blame and credit, and after letting us all know it was “Malarkey”, told people the way things really were. He did this again this go-round when the former president relied on lies, distortion, conspiracy theories, and personal attacks, and “Sleepy Joe” quite astutely called him out.

So, when Mitch McConnell acknowledged at a press conference that his home state of Kentucky will receive money from the Biden administration-backed American Rescue Plan saying,

“So, you’re gonna get a lot more money. I didn’t vote for it. But you’re gonna get a lot more money. My advice to members of the legislatures and other public officials is spend it wisely, because hopefully this windfall doesn’t come around again,”

Biden took the opportunity to point out the hypocrisy with a bit of snarky humor when answering a question about McConnell’s opposition to the American Rescue Plan.

“Mitch McConnell loves our programs. Have you seen what Mitch McConnell said? He told me he wasn’t going to get a single vote in order to allow me to get, with the help of everybody here, that $1.9 trillion … program for economic growth. Look it up, man. He’s bragging about it in Kentucky. It’s a great thing for Kentucky, it’s getting $4 billion to help poor — it’s amazing.”

McConnell’s constituents got help from the $1.9 Trillion relief package, and Mitch, who attempted to keep the people of Kentucky from getting that help because, as he said, he would oppose President Biden in everything, is now opposing Biden’s  infrastructure packages mainly because these are Joe Biden programs and, regardless how good they might be for his constituents in Kentucky, he will put any benefit to the people aside and do what he can to have it fail.

By his own admission, Mitch’s opposition to the 2021 stimulus package was off track as it helped his state. Based as it is on his underlying work for a Biden Failure rather than a Kentucky citizen’s win, his opposition to this second bill may be just as faulty.
