Kayla Kenney, a 15-year-old girl used to be a student at Whitefield Academy, a Christian school, but she has been expelled from that school.
The head of the school, Dr. Bruce Jacobson, had seen a picture of her posted on social media celebrating her birthday. In the picture she was wearing sweater with rainbow running across it. It was a generic rainbow with only the colors orange, yellow, light blue, and purple, but rather than seeing it as something colorfully generic, the head of the school saw something more demonic in it.
According to him, the picture “demonstrates a posture of morality and cultural acceptance contrary to that of Whitefield Academy’s beliefs”.
The school’s policy says that “homosexual orientation” is “in opposition to the Biblical lifestyle the school teaches” and the policy allows the school to punish students for behavior that occurs outside of school.
The picture wasn’t intended as a statement on GLBTQ equality, but simply as that of a young 15 year old who was happy as she blew out her candles, and whose mother thought would make a nice post on Facebook.
Her parents appealed the expulsion as that would be on her permanent record, but all the school agreed to do was to amend the expulsion to a “voluntary withdrawal”.
Throw out all you Rainbow Brite toys and accessories, kids, they’re demonic.
I suppose the school is correct in its actions related to rainbows because God had nothing to do with one and they appear nowhere in the Bible.
