The Alabama public television station pulled an episode of the children’s television show Arthur, an aardvark who wears glasses and shows kids how to deal with childhood challenges like homework, teachers, siblings, and bullies because in that episode his teacher married his same sex partner.
The thinking was that this is unacceptable for children to see, and conservatives and religious types applauded that.
However, the Alabama state legislature had just passed a bill making it mandatory for a child who could not watch that episode of Arthur to carry a pregnancy to full term even if the child was impregbated through rape or incest.
