Pat Robertson’s irony

I certainly hope that I am not the only person who was struck by the irony when Pat Robertson, a purveyor of a religion that is based on the concept that God so loved the world He sent His only begotten son to die on the cross to gain humanity forgiveness for one person’s committing the sin of pride by violating a law that God made up and could have forgiven at any time and who went on to be the impetus that created a religion that influenced the last 2,000 year, basically said that the death of one man, Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in a Saudi consulate in Turkey, should be no big deal as he was, after all, one man, and one man’s death should not be too influential.

“You’ve got a $100-billion worth of arm sales which is, you know, that’s one of those things, but more than that we’ve got to have some Arab allies. I know it’s bad, but I mean we’ve had all kinds of stuff, but you don’t blow up an international alliance over one person. I mean, I’m sorry.”

Even in this case, as in the case of Pat’s boss where it was 30 pieces of silver, it’s a man’s death meaning less than money.

“You’ve got one journalist — who knows? Was it an interrogation? Was he assassinated? Were there rogue elements? Who did it?…You’ve got $100 billion worth of arms sales…We’ve got to have some Arab allies. We have to have it! We cannot alienate a biggest player in the Middle East who is a bulwark against Iran.”

Jesus wept.
