Trump views the Russian interference investigation as illegal because, as he claims, there was no crime and everybody was conflicted, including Mueller. And these conflicts are “tremendous conflicts”.
One of those conflicts is that Mueller is
“Comey’s best friend. And I could give you 100 pictures of him and Comey hugging and kissing each other. You know, he’s Comey’s best friend…. So that’s four things, that’s four.”
There is a federal investigation going on, and at the end of it either illegalities will be found or they won’t be found. But the investigation which has already uncovered a number of crimes with indictments, convictions, pleas, and confessions is not of itself illegal.
One of the conflicts is that Trump did not give Mueller the job of the Director of the FBI, one he had already held for 12 years. He had interviewed Mueller, but when Rob Rosenstein appointed him as Special Counsel to investigate the Russian interference in the 2016 election and if there were any collusion by the Trump team, The FBI job went to someone else. So Mueller took another job, he was not denied a job. So, why would he be mad enough at Trump oo look for an axe to grind.
Mueller had once sought a refund on some dues he had paid at a Trump-owned golf club several years ago, but never heard back. Trump claims this “business dispute” is a conflict that makes the investigation illegal. If there was such a dispute in 2011, why would Trump consider him to run the FBI in 2017?
But the big middle school claim is that it is illegal because Trump has “100 pictures of [Mueller] and Comey hugging and kissing each other.”
“And I could give you 100 pictures of him and Comey hugging and kissing each other. You know, he’s Comey’s best friend.”
So give them.
