disloyal to each other

While we pay attention to the Trump supporters’ animus toward the “other”, and see them as a monolithic block of bigotry and racism, we fail to see that their hatred, or perhaps their lack of loyalty to their fellow man, is also a hatred of each other,

The assumption is that they are a unified group, but listening and reading about them makes it clear they are at their root selfish. They do not care about anyone except themselves.

Farmers who voted for Trump are being hurt by his tariffs.

People who voted for him because he would deport the “others”, are shocked when in-laws are getting deported.

People who voted for Trump to end Obamacare are finding they are losing the Affordable Care Act, which they loved but failed to see was the same thing.

They see companies leaving the country because the tariff war makes it better for them to operate outside the country with Trump supporters losing their jobs

And, instead of the Trump supporters sympathizing with each other and examining if what is gong on is best for all those like them,  they turn their backs and say ,when asked. that in spite of all the bad, the bad that is hurting their fellow supporters, they are perfectly fine with anything because their paychecks have improved.

They are doing better, better even than other Trump supporters,  so, yay themselves, and screw the rest of you.

For now.
