A year ago this week, instead of condemning the racist, white supremacist, neo-nazis who had gathered in Charlottesville, Trump defended them saying they included “some very fine people,” and expressing sympathy for their demonstration against the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
He compared the removal of that statue to the removal of monuments to the Founding Fathers, apparently unaware that the Confederacy was fighting to divide the country founded by them.
“Many of those people were there to protest the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee. This week, it is Robert E. Lee. And I notice that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next? And is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you have to ask yourself, where does it stop?”
Inventing a term in attempting to defend the indefensible and lessen the unacceptability of the anti-American message of the racist, white supremacist, neo-nazis by making both sides equivalent, he stated,
“What about the alt-left that came charging at, as you say, at the alt-right. Do they have any semblance of guilt? I’ve condemned neo-Nazis. I’ve condemned many different groups. But not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. You had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. The press has treated them absolutely unfairly.”
“You also had some very fine people on both sides,” he said.
He was willing to defend these people because they support him. And, why wouldn’t they?
He is one of them.
His attitude toward people of color is nowhere near as positive as his attitude toward white supremacists. Brown people are animals, rapists, murders, and “bad hombres”.
When assessing his predecessor, he said,
“Sadly, because president Obama has done such a poor job as president, you won’t see another black president for generations!”
He seems to look for and relish any opportunity to denigrate the intelligence of People of Color.
“LeBron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made LeBron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!”
In Alabama, Trump offered this advice to N.F.L. owners on handling those players who take a knee during the national anthem,

He’s fired!”
It is common knowledge that the players are largely African-Americans protesting police violence and economic inequality:
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these N.F.L. owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he’s fired.”
When Maxine Waters supported the idea of letting the more racist and bigoted members of his staff know their behavior was unacceptable, Trump tweeted,
“Crazy Maxine Waters, said by some to be one of the most corrupt people in politics, is rapidly becoming, together with Nancy Pelosi, the FACE of the Democrat Party. Her ranting and raving, even referring to herself as a wounded animal, will make people flee the Democrats!”
And,
“Congresswoman Maxine Waters, an extraordinarily low IQ person, has become, together with Nancy Pelosi, the Face of the Democrat Party. She has just called for harm to supporters, of which there are many, of the Make America Great Again movement. Be careful what you wish for Max!”
Now most recently, when his good friend, Omarosa Manigault-Newman, whom he had hired four times including a position at the White House has come up with a tell all book, he has attacked her intelligence.
“When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!”
And when denying that any tape exists with his using the N-word on more than one occasion on the set of The Apprentice, he defended his innocence with the tweet,
Mark Burnett “called to say that there are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a terrible and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa. I don’t have that word in my vocabulary, and never have. She made it up. Look at her MANY recent quotes.”
“Wacky Omarosa, who got fired 3 times on the Apprentice, now got fired for the last time. She never made it, never will. She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said Ok. People in the White House hated her. She was vicious, but not smart.”
Parenthetically, one has to wonder why a “stable genius” would have hired a wacky, deranged, lowlife, not smart dog four times.
White supremacists, fine people.
Black people crazed, wacky, and stupid
