Have you noticed that the people who claimed these predictions were unquestionably true when they made them are the same ones who now say that ISIS will wait patiently for the two year long vetting process so they can sneak in among the Syrian refugees?

The claim it is for the safety of the citizens of the United States.
However, with 10,186 deaths by guns so far in 2015, you would think that this same branch of government would do something about guns.
But Syrians neither vote nor make campaign contributions like the NRA and the weapon manufactures do.

Safety is not really a priority.
None of the terrorists in Paris were Syrian refugees, but those committing terrorist acts on American soul since 9/11 are largely American citizens.
The vote makes no sense if you look past this up-coming year being an election year.
Syrian Okies?
Other than having sung Oklahoma in community and school choirs, and having seen the movie, I really knew nothing about the state, nor did I have even a remote idea that it would become important to me.
I began my teaching career in Richmond, California back in the earliest years of the 1970s.
Because of the oil refinery and storage tanks there, it was where many Oklahomans, fleeing the Dust Bowl, ended up as refugees. My first classes contained some of the grandchildren of those “Okies”.
Many of the students’ houses had items in them that were brought to California during those days in the 1930s, and there was constant talk of one day returning home.
The elder generation spoke nostalgically of a place they had known as home, the middle spoke of the memories influenced by the immaturity of their childhood perception, and the younger spoke of a place both real and embellished that they heard about from their elders.
Along with the expressions of home sickness for the land of their parents and grandparents, the land of legends, my students’ parents were only too happy to hand you some artifact and accompany it with a story connected to it, and recount what they could remember of the journey west that they had experienced, or heard of from their elders.
The most depressing part of the many tales, and the part that was always expressed in hushed tones accompanied by a look of dejection was the retelling of getting to the border of California and being stopped by state police blocking their way.
Local towns had signs noting that along with dogs and Mexicans, ”Okies” weren’t welcome in stores, hotels, camp sites, or any place usually open to the public.
The idea that as Americans, but not Californians, they had traveled over a thousand miles only to be initially denied housing and work, or even entry into the state was still an open wound for them.
For many, the only reason they got in was either because they had relatives already there, or they had some experience in the oil fields back home that could be used by the oil fields and refineries around Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay.
Eventually, by the whims of fate, I ended up teaching in Oklahoma twenty years later.
To a certain degree I knew more about the experiences of those who had left during the Dust Bowl, having spoken often with the parents and their children who had left during that era and whose children and grandchildren I taught than people in the home state who knew of their experiences which was limited, what they read in books and heard in class, and assumed.
Their stories were those of the ones who had watched the people leave.
The Dust Bowl happened in the North Western part of the state, so in spite of those in the Eastern part, who may say they survived the Dust Bowl, their only connection was its happening in parts of their state, and their surviving it is more romance than reality.
The people I had befriended and whose children I taught were the descendants of the Joads, the ones who lost it all and had to flee to survive.
I had come to expect empathy from Oklahomans when it came to people from other places who had to flee from their home places for whatever reason called for it, but it isn’t actually there to the extent I thought it would have been.
Just as with the “Okies”, to whom that name was derisively applied while taking on as a badge of honor at home by those who did not have to deal with its influence, the Vietnamese were reduced to names and stereotypes when they fled the Communist North, as were the people from Central America who had fled the various wars and drug cartels in the places they had called home.
And now you have the governor of that state, with whom I am very well acquainted, being among those Republican governors who have stated they will not accept Syrian refugees in spite of the federal government having exclusive authority to regulate immigration and the 14th amendment prohibiting discrimination on basis of national origin.
Governor Mary Fallin and U.S. Senator James Inhofe are calling for a halt in accepting refugees from Syria.
Fallin’s statement said: “The Obama administration needs to assure the public that the background checks they are doing are rigorous, and that American lives will not be endangered in the process. Until then, I call on the Obama administration to suspend any Syrian refugees into the United States. During these uncertain times, the Obama administration needs to make sure those entering the United States are not terrorists. During a U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing last week, FBI Director James Comey said there is a risk bringing anybody in from the outside, but especially from a conflict zone like Syria. The American people need to be assured that national security will not be compromised. We must maintain a strict verification process against possible terrorists.”
Those fleeing Oklahoma were seen as a threat to the safety of Californians as they were assumed to be uneducated, low class, and desperate enough to rely on crime to survive. No one would be safe if all the Oklahomans seeking entry into California were allowed in.
Presently, as back then, what Syrian refugees have been given entre into the state, all three of them, were allowed in for family reunification.

In response to this statement, several legislators urged the governor to continue this fight, and, according to a recent poll more than 85% of Oklahomans don’t want Syrian refugees.
State Rep. Casey Murdock said, “We applaud Governor Fallin in her efforts to stop the influx of Syrian refugees into the United States and into the state of Oklahoma. We should continue efforts by suspending all state agencies in assisting in the resettlement of additional refugees. If the federal government is not going to keep the American people safe, it is up to the states to keep us safe.”
State Rep. Sean Roberts commented, “States should unify on this movement. The tragic events going on across our world are disheartening. We should assist, but this is not the way. If one state allows the resettlement of refugees, they can continue to cross state lines with no true discourse.”
How 1930’s Californian of them.
But these are people whose families did not head west. Yes, they love to brag about the Dust Bowl to illustrate the resilience and spirit of Oklahomans, but they really do not know what it took, and obviously cannot see it in others.
Senator Jim (The Snowball Thrower) Inhofe made this statement: “In light of the attacks in Paris, I call on the Obama administration to put a pause in accepting Syrians as refugees into the United States until Congress can review and conduct appropriate oversight of the State Department’s vetting process. Accepting refugees is an important and historical practice of our nation, but the Syrian refugee situation is atypical due to ISIS’s attempts to exploit the crisis and concerns over the validity of Syrian passports. We saw this danger first hand with Ahmad Al Mohammad who participated in the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and whose passport and fingerprints matched a person who passed through Greece as a Syrian refugee. With ISIS releasing a video on Monday vowing its next attacks on America, this is clearly not a time for the Obama administration to increase, much less expedite, refugees being brought to our soil.
As the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said, ‘We don’t obviously put it past the likes of ISIL to infiltrate operatives among these refugees.’ Furthermore, the Obama administration must better secure our dangerously porous borders. One ISIS terrorist entering our country – through whatever means – will enable that cancer to grow and will directly threaten our homeland and its people.”
None of those who perpetrated the attack in Paris were Syrian refugees. They were naturally born European citizens.
Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett sent a statement on the matter as well: “Many citizens have asked if Tulsa is accepting Syrian refugees. I want to let you know that I’m currently drafting a letter to President Obama urging him not to accept any more Syrian refugees into our country and we should have never allowed this to begin with. We must protect our borders during this critical time for the safety of our citizens. Although I have no authority over the matter, I wanted to share my position with President Obama and let you know the importance I’m placing on this issue to keep Tulsa’s security and safety in line.”
If these people are so concerned about domestic safety, perhaps they should suggest the deportation of members of those White supremacist and militia groups who are threatening actions and carrying out the terrorist actions for which they are responsible, or could at least advocate gun laws that will make it more difficult to get the rifles they do.
Inhofe opposes more gun restrictions.
He voted no on banning high-capacity magazines of over 10 bullets, on banning lawsuits against gun manufacturers for gun violence, and on background checks at gun shows.
He voted yes on prohibiting foreign and UN aid that restricts US gun ownership, on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers, on loosening license & background checks at gun shows, and on maintaining current law regarding guns sold without trigger locks.
He co-sponsored a bill allowing firearms in National Parks.
Inhofe has earned an A+ rating by the NRA because of his pro-gun rights voting record.
Meanwhile, private US companies provided equipment to Al Qaeda,in some cases from government surplus because they were not required to check buyers’ backgrounds or obtain government licences for the sales.
Sensitive military equipment barred from export is legal to sell within the US, with little restriction.
Gregory Kutz of the Government Accountability Office told a congressional panel: “The lack of legal restrictions over domestic sales of these items, combined with the difficulties associated with inspecting packages and individuals leaving the United States, results in a weak control environment that does not effectively prevent terrorists and agents of foreign governments from obtaining these sensitive items.”
Adam Gadahn, a senior al-Qaida operative, made it known that “America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms. You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center” and buy a gun without a background check.
Under current laws, if a background check reveals that your name is on the national terrorism watch list, you are still free to walk out of a gun dealership with a firearm. You just can’t be a known criminal or have a mental illness.
The NRA has long argued that the terrorism watch list is arbitrary and has no due-process behind it, and thus it should have no bearing on who can buy guns.
And it has been determines that at least 4,000 terrorists have obtained weapons in the United States.
So it would appear that as they claim to be looking out for the safety of U.S. citizens and citizens of their states, fear-mongering about Syrian refugees endears senators and governors to the xenophobes while doing nothing about loose gun control laws endears them to the NRA and the unreasonable gun lobby.
But, yeah, it’s for the people’s safety that we use the Syrian refugees as the threat.
our lesser selves?
Maybe I was just naïve, or perhaps, without social media and 24 hour cable news in the past, I just had no idea how negative and angry people were.
But what is happening with the Syrian refugees, people who gave up everything they had ever owned and known to escape ISIS, seems to have brought out the meanness in what some like to say is a “Christian” nation, you know a nation based on the guy who said, “suffer the little children to come unto me.”
Remember the story from Mark 10: 13-15
“And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.”…?
Of course, the consistent point was that His disciples objected, not those others.
In the summer of 2014. when the children were fleeing Central America, there were protests anywhere it was rumored these kids might end up, and the justifications for wanting them turned away were that ISIS was sneaking in among them; as young as they were they would vote for Obama; they were going to take our jobs; and, in spite of the lack of vaccinations by U.S. citizens that caused a measles outbreak, they were going to bring disease in spite of part of their processing being a medical evaluation and vaccinations against diseases where necessary.
220,000 people have been killed in Syria, with half the population being displaced.
And, there are approximately 4 million refugees.
Many of the 2016 presidential candidates had been saying that the U.S. should take in Syrian refugees fleeing from ISIS.
And then Paris happened with the perpetrators being native born Europeans, not Syrian refugees, after President Obama planned to settle 10,000 refugees in America over the next year.
Now it’s time for our lesser selves to run amuck.
At least 30 state governors have announced that they refuse to allow any refugees into their states with the most egregious refusal being that of Chris Christie who said he wouldn’t even let in 5 year old orphans because of the chance, I guess, members of ISIS will hide among them.
Mike Huckabee, a Baptist minister who seems to selectively forget, or crassly ignores, that the majority of acts of terror perpetrated on U.S. soil after 9/11 were done by White Christians, and claims when speaking of ISIS, “I don’t know of any other group of people uniquely that are targeting innocent civilians and committing these acts of mayhem”, says Speaker Paul Ryan “needs to make it clear that if the President won’t stand to protect America from wholesale open borders, then Republicans will. If Ryan will not lead and reject the importation of those fleeing the Middle East without assurances that we can separate refugees from terrorists, then Speaker Ryan needs to step down today and let someone else lead.”
Ben Carson wants GOP leaders in Congress to move legislation that would block federal funding for the plan to resettle refugees here because the U.S. has no responsibility to accept these refugees, refugees who are suffering because of the instability in the Middle East we are responsible for which resulted in the rise of ISIS.
He had previously held, “We should do everything in our power to help these men, women and children who have been forced to flee their country, but until we can sort out the bad guys, we must not be foolish.”
Ted Cruz , the anointed of God according to his father and himself, said, “President Obama and Hillary Clinton’s proposal to bring tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees to America I think is absolute lunacy. Who in their right mind would want to bring over tens of thousands of Syrian refugees when we cannot determine, the administration cannot determine who is, and who isn’t a terrorist?”
Of course, and he is not alone in this, Cruz wants to favor Christian refugees:
“We need to be working to provide a safe haven for those Christians who are being persecuted and facing genocide, and at the same time we shouldn’t be letting terrorists into America,” he said.
Donald Trump said he would deport Syrian migrants who are allowed into the U.S. like an ISIS “Trojan Horse”. He even said that the United States should consider shutting down mosques in the wake of the Paris attacks. He previously said the U.S. should “possibly” take in refugees.
“I would hate it do it, but it’s something that you’re going to have to strongly consider because some of the ideas and some of the hatred, the absolute hatred, is coming from these areas and you know, in New York City as an example.”
It is telling that the Donald has referred to the refugees as “migrants” as if they are merely wandering to another place looking for work.
Marco Rubio, totally uninformed of the vetting process which refugees go through, displayed his ignorance when he stated that we should not accept refugees because “I’m increasingly convinced because you cannot accurately do a background check on even 10,000 people.”

Before this he was “open” to accepting refugees if there was a way to ensure they were not being infiltrated by terrorists.
But then on Wednesday, yesterday, Rubio was on his way to California to raise funds, and missed a closed-door briefing entitled “The Aftermath of Paris: America’s Role”.
Jeb Bush wants safe havens for refugees in Syria rather than bringing them to the United States with emphasis on the “special important need” to protect Christians in Syria.
John Kasich wrote a letter to President Obama saying that the U.S. should not accept any Syrian refugees until the background check process has been strengthened, and that the federal government “take no further action in resettling Syrian refugees in Ohio.”
Carly Fiorina is as uninformed on the vetting process as Rubio. She stands with state governors who say they will not accept refugees into their states.
Rand Paul intends to introduce a bill to call for an immediate moratorium on visas for refugees, and suspend all types of visas for countries that have “significant jihadist movements.” This would include immigrants.
Of course he had said back in September, “We are a welcoming nation, and we have accepted a lot of refugees, and I think we will continue to do so. But we also can’t accept the whole world, so there are some limits.”
Among all the chatter on the internet from people who previously saw Obama coming for their guns, conservatives being rounded up into FEMA camps, and Jade Helm being the excuse for martial law, there is the suggestion that the people in various states vote on whether or not their state should accept refugees.
I guess that way we will have an accurate measure of how low the people of the United States have sunk.
The mayor of Roanoke, Virginia, Mayor David Bowers wants local and non-governmental agencies to “suspend and delay” assistance to Syrian refugees because he is “convinced that it is presently imprudent to assist in the relocation of Syrian refugees to our part of Virginia”, and because President Franklin D. Roosevelt once “felt compelled to sequester Japanese foreign nationals after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.”
He seems to be a little confused with the fact that that the Japanese that were interned were American citizens, not refugees, and that that whole matter is one of the country biggest embarrassments.
Not to be out done, Tennessee state Rep. Glen Casada called on Tennessee to not only use its National Guard to block Syrian refugees from entering the state, but to “gather up” any of them already in Tennessee and force them to leave.
In 1938, a poll was taken in the states which showed that Americans in general weren’t interested in the plight of the Jews under the Third Reich. Americans weren’t concerned at all with the Jewish refugee problem and opposed allowing refuge to those fleeing from Germany, Austria and Hungary.
Only 4.9% of Americans felt enough empathy to support granting them safe-haven.
When Hitler invaded Poland a year later there was a great number of Jewish refugee children, but still 60% of Americans were unwilling to take in a child refugee.
But in time, America ultimately took in nearly 100,000 Jewish refugees.
It was a little too late as the Holocaust had begun, and 200,000 more Jews could have been saved from it, the 200,000 whom America had turned away.
But America didn’t like Jews back then.
Ironically, our good friend and darling of the right, Bibi Netanyahu, is now also refusing refugees.
But from GOP sentiments about the Syrian refugees and the trolls on the internet, America is either developing, or has always had a dark soul.
We are giving into our lesser selves.
Has he no shame?
My plans this past Sunday had to be changed, so I was home and was able to watch the morning talking head shows.
Marco Rubio was on ABC’s This Week, and was asked about refugees coming to America from Syria.
He stated,
“The problem is not the background checks. The problem is we can’t background check them. You can’t pick up the phone and call Syria. And that’s one of the reasons why I said we won’t be able to take more refugees. It’s not that we don’t want to, it’s that we can’t. Because there’s no way to background check someone that’s coming from Syria. Who do you call and do a background check on them?
The bottom line is that this is not just a threat coming from abroad. What we need to open up to and realize is that we have a threat here at home — home-grown violent extremists. Individuals who perhaps have not even traveled abroad, who had been radicalized online. This has become a multi-faceted threat. In the case of what’s happening in Europe, this is a swarm of refugees, and as I’ve said repeatedly over the last few months, you can have 1,000 people come in, and 999 of them are just poor people fleeing oppression and violence, but one of them is an ISIS fighter. If that’s the case, you have a problem, and there is no way to vet that out. There is no background check system in the world that allows us to find that out, because who do you call in Syria to background check them?”
Later he tweeted,
“We won’t be able to take more refugees. It’s not that we aren’t compassionate. But we can’t. No way to background check”, which was a quick summary of his statement earlier in the day.
He included a link in the tweet, so I hit on it, and it brought me to his campaign page with a very prominent “donate” button right at the top, in green, and the first thing seen.
But as far as vetting refugees, under the existing process it takes up to 18 to 24 months to check out refugee who are located in refugee camps before they are allowed to enter the United States.
Many of those refugees who would be approved in 2016 are already going through the security-screening process which includes

• A medical screening
• A cultural orientation program (which consists of videos on housing, employment, education, and hygiene, among other topics)
A potential refugee must have approved status for each step at the same time, and most security checks expire after 15 months.
So, Rubio was wrong on two counts.
The first is claiming that there is no way to effectively vet refugees. Many have not been allowed in with the process now in place.
And second, encouraging people to his web site to read his remarks on This Week and see the video of his appearance on the show, only to connect them to his campaign donation page.
Less than 48 hours after the attacks in Paris, Marco Rubio found a clever way to get people to contribute to his campaign as he, and only he, can save the United States from Paris-like attacks.
Just send the money to make that possible.
The beam in our eye
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
Matthew 7:5
According to a study by the New America Foundation, a Washington-based research organization that reviewed “terror” attacks on US soil since Sept. 11, 2001, White Americans are the biggest terror threat in the United States and of these, most are anti-government groups or white supremacists.
The review also found that almost twice as many people have died in attacks by right-wing groups in America than have died in attacks by Muslim extremists.
In 26 attacks since 9/11 that the group defined as terror, “the use of violence in pursuit of any political ideology”, 19 were carried out by non-Muslims killing 48 people as of June 24, 2015.
But none of the perpetrators of those 19 have been sent to Guantanamo Bay where terrorists are kept.
Not included in the review were events like Sandy Hook or the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting, or acts of violence perpetrated by someone connected to the victims, or involving people who had previous personal disputes like fights.
When a news site ran the headline “White Americans are the biggest terror threat in the United States” some people expressed the objection to “white Americans” instead of “some white Americans” or “white American extremists”’ distinctions usually lacking when “Muslims terrorists” are spoken of.
A recent example of this is when CNN anchors Isha Sesay and John Vause berated Yaser Louati the spokesperson for a Muslim outreach group, the Collective Against Islamophobia ,after the Paris attacks because he did not agree that all Muslims share responsibility for the recent attacks.
He had insisted, “The problem is that you’re still mixing the Muslim community and somehow giving them an affiliation with these terrorists. But [French Muslims] are paying two prices, the price of being targeted by these terrorists and some of the right-wing columnists. We are being asked to choose our camp. Our camp is the French one. Make no mistake about it.”
“If your camp is the French camp, then why is it that no one within the Muslim community there in France knew what these guys were up to?”, Vause asked.
“Sir, the Muslim community has nothing to do with these guys,” Louati insisted. “Nothing. We cannot justify ourselves for the actions of someone who claims to be Muslim.”
“Why not?”, Vause interrupted. “What is the responsibility within the Muslim community to identify people within their own ranks when it comes to people who are obviously training and preparing to carry out mass murder.”
“Sir, they were not from our ranks!” Louati exclaimed. “We cannot accept the idea that these people are from us, they are not. They are just byproducts of our societies exporting their wars abroad and expecting no repercussions back home.”
Co-host Isha Sesay insisted that the “finger of blame is pointing at the Muslim community.”
“This is a very complicated issue,” Vause said, concluding the segment. “I have yet to hear the condemnation from the Muslim community on this.”
But there was condemnation.
Yet, where is the condemnation from the Christian community when people in the name of Christianity shoot up or burn down the places of worship of other religions, the Klan, which claims to be Christian, takes some of the actions it does, or when pastors call for the organized and systematic execution of Gay people?
There is little to no condemnation.
When it comes to domestic terrorism, it is known that the jihadists are all Muslims of various races, ethnicities, and nationalities, but that not all Muslims being Jihadists is conveniently brushed aside, while most of the non-jihadists are white and largely Christian, but it is simply acknowledged that not all Whites or Christians are part of that.
John Horgan, a terrorism expert at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, told The New York Times. “There’s an acceptance now of the idea that the threat from jihadi terrorism in the United States has been overblown. And there’s a belief that the threat of right-wing, anti-government violence has been underestimated.”

And the Department of Homeland Security has warned that law enforcement would be the main target of sovereign citizen violence “during routine law enforcement encounters at a suspect’s home, during enforcement stops, and at government offices.”
This group does not commit its acts in response to those initiated by law enforcement, but often advertises these actions as their intended action for things as simple as traffic stops. Opposition to government authority is its ideology.
They’re committing acts of terrorism.
A 2014 report by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), law enforcement agencies considered sovereign citizen extremists the most dangerous terror threats in the United States. They were ahead of foreign Islamic extremists.
Consider:
Non-jihadist terrorists have killed more people in the United States than jihadists have since 9/11. They and those who failed to kill or who were arrested before committing an act of terrorism; sovereign citizen extremists, whom some in law enforcement consider the most dangerous terror threat facing the United States; and neo-Nazi groups which have threatened acts of terrorism, are made up of White Christian Americans.
But we still seem to want to believe that Muslims and foreigners are the main practitioners of terrorism and the gravest terror threat facing the United States.
We have fallen victim of convenient stereotypes, and this is promoted by a lazy media and expedience seeking politicians.
We need enemies that are not like us so that it is easier to hate them.
And considering the racial make-up of the country, at least in the minds of some who still see the country as majority pure Euro-centric white, and the claim this is a Christian nation, non-White, non-Christians fit the bill.
So it’s easy to forget that
-the Wisconsin Sikh Temple massacre of August 5, 2012,
-the murder of Dr. George Tiller on May 31, 2009,
-the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church shooting on July 27, 2008,
-the murder of Dr. John Britton on July 29, 1994,

-the murder of Alan Berg on June 18, 1984,
-and the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995
were all perpetrated by White Americans who claimed Christianity as their religion, and who cited their religious beliefs as part or all of their motivation.
We need to start looking inward for our problems, and stop letting ourselves be misled by those who profit by the misleading.
